We would like to thank NCDOI and OSFM, for the award of the 2026 Fire Grant. We were awarded $40,000 in much needed equipment this year. We have finally received the last of our equipment. This is 5 new sets of gear that we greatly needed.
We would also like to thank Dinges Fire Equipment for fulfilling our order of equipment, also Lakeland Firefighting Gear for processing our order quickly.
We are always committed to provide the best fire service protection that we can for our community and surrounding departments. Thank you once again. Derby Vol. Fire Department.

Training Never Stops.

Today, three members of the Derby Fire Department traveled to Graham, NC, to attend First Responder Propane Transport Emergency Training.

This specialized training provides firefighters and other first responders with the critical knowledge and hands-on guidance needed to safely manage incidents involving propane transport vehicles. Participants learned how to identify hazards associated with propane transport loads, assess risks at emergency scenes, understand the behavior of liquefied petroleum gas during fires and crashes, recognize explosion hazards, establish safe perimeters, and coordinate with propane industry personnel to protect lives and property.

We are incredibly proud of our members for always taking the extra step to expand their knowledge and sharpen their skills. Their commitment to continuous training ensures they are better prepared to serve and protect the citizens of our community when emergencies arise.

Thank you to our members for your dedication, professionalism, and willingness to invest your time in becoming better firefighters. Your commitment to learning makes our department stronger and our community safer.

Over the past 3 weeks, we had the pleasure of sponsoring Richmond Community College's Hazardous Materials Operations class. We greatly enjoyed having everyone who attended and participated. We would like to thank the Instructors, Bynum Peach Farm, Rockingham Fire Department, Wilson Farms, and Sandhills Propane for their support. We would also like to thank Browns Backyard Grill, and Rudino's Restaurant for the great meals.
We hope that everyone who participated, enjoyed the event, and continue to forward their training. Thank You for allowing us to sponsor this training.

This Memorial Day, Derby Fire Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We are forever grateful for the heroes who gave their lives protecting our freedom. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we enjoy time with family and friends, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who are no longer with us because they gave everything for others.

We honor you. We remember you. We thank you. ❤️🤍💙
