Brush Collection Schedule Update 🌿

Due to the Labor Day holiday and the Monroe County Fall Festival, Ellettsville’s September brush collection schedule will be slightly delayed.

Weather permitting, crews are expected to begin brush pickup on the afternoon of Monday, September 14 within the Corporate Town Limits of Ellettsville.

Crews will also collect any remaining brush left behind by the recent storm during this pickup cycle. As a reminder, regular brush collection typically begins on the first Monday of each month from April through November.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our crews work through the adjusted schedule.

Bybee Stone’s work can be found in some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks including the Pentagon, Washington National Cathedral, and major civic and university projects across the U.S. and beyond.

But just outside its Ellettsville mill, you’ll also find Baby Yoda, Bigfoot and a limestone elephant; carvings made by Bybee stonecarvers during the pandemic slowdown.

For nearly 50 years, the Bybee family and generations of local craftspeople have built a national reputation from right here in Ellettsville. We spoke with vice president George Bybee about the family history, the post-9/11 Pentagon rebuild, the skill behind traditional stonecarving, and what he hopes the next generation carries forward.

ā˜€ļø There are plenty of ways to get outside in Ellettsville!

Plan a picnic at Campbell’s Park, play basketball or pickleball at Marci Jane Lewis Park, let the kids conquer the ā€œbig rockā€ near Town Hall Park, or take a walk along the Heritage Trail.

You can also explore Stewart Park and visit the completed Heritage Center, which is free and open for walk-in community gatherings and artistic use from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The space can also be reserved for meetings, celebrations and other events.
