THE REPUBLICANS THAT VOTE FOR THE BLOAT
You will see that out of 39 House Republicans-- only 22 Republicans voted against the largest budget in the history of the state-- $71BILLION. That passed with $127 million in cuts to the disabled.
The Minority Leader even stood to justify his bad vote. Yes, the very same one that ran from the vote on my amendment to avoid standing up for the disabled and against corporate welfare. His justification? Other Republican's voted for some of Larry Governor Larry Hogan's budgets.
Where have all the conservatives gone?! With friends like these, who needs enemies.
I have heard every single excuse in the book to justify voting for the managed destruction of our state: "I got money in the budget for a bill" or "there's money coming to my district" If you have to trade your vote for a few hundred thousand dollars for your community are you really serving the best interest of the citizens?
As my friend and colleague Delegate Mark Fisher put it on the floor yesterday, Maryland's Budget is like the watching the movie Failure To Launch. Maryland is a 35-year-old man living in the parents' basement that refuses to make good choices and finally leave the nest. We're a national embarrassment because our values don't actually align with our investments--
And YOU, the taxpayers, the ratepayers, the disabled, the children, the parents, the grandparents of once great state-- YOU all are paying.
Just know that a very small-- and ever shrinking group of us are still down here fighting for you and fighting for basic reality and sanity. We haven't given up on saving Maryland and no bond bill or small mandated appropriation to our district could cause us to lose sight of what you all are really going through when you open you BGE bill or go to the grocery store.
