Happy First Day of School, Calvert County! ✏️📚🚌

School is back in session, and Sheriff Ricky Cox and the men and women of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office are thrilled to welcome students and staff, for another great school year in partnership with Calvert County Public Schools.

Our 2026-2027 School Resource Officers (SRO's) are ready to kick off the year with smiles and high-fives! From welcoming students in the hallways to building positive relationships and helping provide a safe, supportive learning environment, our SROs are proud to be part of the school community.

Congratulations to the 2026 Maryland School Resource Officer of the Year, Dfc. Lillian Lone with Talbot County Sheriff's Office and Talbot County Public Schools.

Officer Lone sets the standard for School Resource Officers, building trust through genuine relationships with students, families, and staff. She mentors, reads to students, supports families, responds calmly to emergencies, and serves Spanish-speaking families with compassion and integrity. Her dedication goes beyond safety, it strengthens the whole school community.

Well deserved recognition for Allegany County Public Schools Mr. Reese Llewellyn, 2026 School Safety Employee of the year.

Mr. Llewellyn was nominated by colleagues, administrators, and parents for consistently going above and beyond for his school community. During a catastrophic flood, Mr. Llewellyn stayed on site at George's Creek Elementary School, protecting and comforting students and staff through the life-threatening crisis.

The School Safety Advisory Board will meet Monday, May 4th from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The meeting will be held Baltimore County Public Library, Arbutus Branch, 855 Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus.

Members of the public are invited to attend/observe any open meeting session but may not participate in the session unless the meeting agenda specifically includes a section for public testimony or comment.

Please be advised that the Advisory Board may move into a closed session, if needed, pursuant to Maryland Code, § 3-305 of the General Provisions Article.
