e and plant diversity. Fantastic views throughout the property. This is secluded mountain living at its best. Not another building in sight. Both master suites have queen beds and large private baths. The third bathroom has a large whirlpool bath tub as well. All bathrooms have slate or travertine flooring. Two large water heaters make sure that you'll never run out of hot water. The first floor master suite includes a private, 14’ X 28’ screened porch with fans and a comfortable outdoor sitting room of wicker furniture and a game or snack table. The living room has a gas log fireplace with stone hearth, a 20’ high ceiling with the large loft area looking on to it from either side of the stairway with each side comprising a cozy nook for reading, playing games or sleeping on either of the comfortable futons there. A HDTV 50’ plasma screen equipped with a home theater DVD/audio system is located in the living room as well with a library of DVD and VHS movies. Rustic, but comfortable furnishings abound. Original artwork hangs on the walls and numerous custom details like the back lit onyx bathroom counter and sink or the inlaid patterns in the hardwood flooring add the sense of decadent luxury without detracting from the natural beauty and seclusion of the home and location. Both a breakfast counter and the large round 6 person dining table allow for relaxed serving and flow during meals. The walkout basement area contains the washer/dryer and a large game room area including a ping-pong table, darts and a second HDTV flat screen with DVD and VHS connected. This downstairs HDTV also has input ports on the front panel for connecting to video games if the kids wish to do that. The whole house is wired for cable. The well maintained, gravel driveway and large parking area can hold 5 cars. A mowed grassy meadow adjacent to the house has it’s own wooden deck and 12 person picnic table with fire pit. This location is perfect for lawn games, cookouts, watching the sunset across the valley and stargazing in the clear, north Georgia nights. The end-of–the-road seclusion and the 60 acres surrounding the home makes this location truly ‘dog-heaven’. When we come up to our smaller home on the property, our three dogs can all run free for the duration without fear of cars or leash laws. More than 10 miles of old logging roads crisscross the property, providing ready trails for hiking at either a low intensity level or as strenuous as you wish simply by scaling the considerable elevations on the property ( From the base of Fern Valley to the surrounding ridges it is roughly 800’ of elevation) Walking from one end of the property to the other takes about 1.5 hours and is a nice little bit of aerobic exercise. For the more accomplished mountain bikers out there, these hills are just begging to be ridden. For family reunions we do also offer the option to rent the second house (3 BR, 2 bath) as a package with the larger house. The second house can sleep an additional 9 people, however the dates for this need to be discussed directly with us as that is our personal mountain retreat. Loads of nearby activities from antiquing, mountain biking, Scenic railroad excursion, horseback riding, hiking, golfing, state parks, tubing, canoing and kayaking on the local rivers, boating on Lake Blue Ridge, or just cruising the back roads checking out the cows, apple and peach orchards. Many nice, local restaurants in scenic settings. Convenient access to supermarkets, a drive-in movie theater in Blue Ridge(one of the last in Georgia), boutique shops, even a Wal-Mart. The annual apple festival in Ellijay is always a blast, complete with baby animal petting zoo, pig races, hayrides, clogging, country music and the local moonshine museum. Family fun for everyone. While the location is remote, we do have consistent cell phone signal so you can still be in touch with the outside world if need be.
