Proud of our HR team going out to Bobcat Bridge presenting to the next generation of leaders right here in Gilmer County! Their presentation to our local youth was a great example of the importance of community engagement, mentorship, and building strong connections between local government and the people we serve.

Opportunities like these help inspire young leaders, encourage civic involvement, and show students the many ways they can make a positive impact in our community. When we engage with our youth, we are not only sharing knowledge and experience we are helping shape the future of Gilmer County.

Thank you to everyone involved for your commitment to service, leadership development, and strengthening our community for years to come!

Proud moment for Gilmer County Government!

Our entire Gilmer County Board Commissioners recently attended the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).

Each of them has earned the distinction of Certified County Commissioner after completing a rigorous course of study thus demonstrating their commitment to serving our community with knowledge and professionalism.

Chairman Paris was recognized as one of only 23 commissioners statewide to complete every ACCG Specialty Track. This achievement places him in a truly elite group of public servants and reflects a deep understanding of all aspects of county operations.

We’re fortunate to have leaders who are dedicated to continuous learning and to better serving the people of Gilmer County.

Chairman Charlie Paris
Commissioner John Marshall
Commissioner Karleen Ferguson

Thank you for representing Gilmer County Government at one of the states biggest gatherings for government entities!

To provide some clarity regarding the operations of the Gilmer County Road Department and its budget, the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners would like to share the following information.

The Road Department budget in 2024 was $9.1 million but only $5.4 million was spent. $3.7 million of the total Road Department budgeted funds remained unspent at the end of 2024. The remaining funds were not transferred to any other department but remained in the General Fund for use by the Road Department during the 2025 budget year. Since a transfer was not made, no budget amendment was needed and therefore approval by the Board of Commissioners was not required.

All Gilmer County Government offices are audited every year by independent auditors.

A link to the 2024 audited financial report is below.

Please call the Board of Commissioners office Finance Department at (706) 635-4361 if you have questions about the report.

We would be happy to answer your questions.
