It is with deep regret that the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Life Member and former Assistant Chief Daniel Connors. Assistant Chief Connors joined the department in March of 1962 and served as an officer in the positions of Lieutenant, 2nd Assistant Chief and 1st Assistant Chief from 1971 until 1978. Our thoughts are with Chief Connors’ family and friends in this difficult time.

This Saturday (8/29)! Force Fitness in the Big Y plaza will be hosting their annual 9/11 Firefighter Tribute Workout. Two classes: 7:30am and 8:30am. Come experience a workout based on firefighter training. Ellington Firefighters will be there, raising funds for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. And of course, we'll have a fire truck on site for post workout photos!

Classes are open to all- members, non-members, family, friends and kids! Come out for a great workout and support a truly worthy cause!

The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire yesterday on Sprucewood Drive along with the Crystal Lake Fire Department, Somers Fire Department and Ellington Ambulance. The fire was upgraded to a multi-alarm fire which brought in units from Broad Brook Fire Department, Town of Vernon Fire Department & Tolland Fire Department. Fire was contained at 14:25 and units remained on scene for overhaul. 2 occupants are displaced but there were no injuries. Thank you to all of our mutual aid support for their assistance both on the scene as well as covering the town.
