You want to conserve your land and help protect the Kinnickinnic River Watershed, but how? 🤔

Join KRLT staff member, Aleisha Miller, on a walking tour of a property that has taken many different approaches to do just that! Aleisha, along with instructors Maureen Ash & Becky Brathal, showcase different conservation practices and financial programs that the landowner utilized. The Watschke farm, located just south of River Falls, includes a variety of ecosystems such as savannah, tallgrass prairie, pollinator patches, ponds, and woods.  We will walk about a mile on mowed (but uneven) trails.

We will be at the Plum City School District Open House from 1pm to 5pm on Thursday, August 20th for free private well water nitrate screenings with Pierce County Land Conservation ! Bring in ~8 oz. of water in a closed container (preferably glass) collected within 24 hours of the event. It is important to run the tap for 5 minutes (on cold at full flow) before collecting the sample.

Our meeting site is at the Trimbelle Recreation Area! It's not too late to register and we'd love to see you this Saturday! We'll showcase some common aquatic invasive species in our area, practice looking for them, and then break out into groups to collect data on where those species might be locally. A great opportunity for hands on learning and citizen science in action.

We have over 20 locations confirmed for Aquatic Invasive Species Snapshot Day!

Each Snapshot Day event is coordinated by a local Snapshot Day site leader. Site leaders are dedicated individuals who will show volunteers how to identify and report aquatic invasive species on August 8th. They are also there to answer any questions you may have! 90 full scholarships are available to the WWASH Conference! They will cover two-day registration, a hotel night, and dinner, so you can spend your time learning and connecting instead of worrying about logistics. Preference goes to first-time farmer attendees, but everyone's encouraged to apply.
