☀️ June 3, 2026 is Heat Awareness Day in Wisconsin ☀️
Heat can become deadly in just minutes. NEVER leave children, elderly adults, disabled individuals, or pets unattended in parked vehicles, even for a short time.
Studies show the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise rapidly to life-threatening levels, even when windows are cracked open. Slightly opening the windows does NOT significantly reduce the heat inside a vehicle.
Children are especially vulnerable because their bodies do not regulate heat as efficiently as adults. Extreme heat can quickly lead to heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and death.
Pets are also at serious risk. Animals can suffer fatal heatstroke within 15 minutes inside a hot vehicle.
🚗 Heat Safety Tips:
✔️ Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle
✔️ Never leave anyone unattended in a vehicle
✔️ Keep pets at home during errands when possible
✔️ Stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak heat
✔️ Check on elderly neighbors and those without air conditioning
Heat is a silent and dangerous killer. Protect yourself, your family, and your pets during extreme heat and stay Weather-Ready.
