The Annual Ellsworth County EMS Spaghetti Feed & Raffle is coming up on Saturday, October 24th!

Come enjoy a great meal while supporting your local EMS! The Spaghetti Feed will be held from 5:00–7:00 PM at 1107 Evans Street in Ellsworth and is a free-will donation. Proceeds support our EMS Scholarship Fund and community outreach programs.

Tickets for these prizes are $10 each and can be purchased at the EMS Station or from any EMS Technician. You do not have to be present to win!

Come see us downtown today during Ellsworth Cowtown Days! We’ll have our EMS booth set up with hands-on activities for the whole family, including Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed education.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking motivated EMS professionals with:
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A current Kansas EMS certification (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic)
A valid driver’s license
A desire to work in a progressive, protocol-driven system
All candidates must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening upon offer of employment.

Compensation Based on Certification & Experience:
EMT: $41,000 – $51,000
AEMT: $44,000 – $59,000
Paramedic: $52,000 – $60,000

🚑 Fort Harker Days is this Saturday, and Ellsworth County EMS will be there! 🚑

Be sure to stop by the Ellsworth County EMS booth during Fort Harker Days on July 11th for a fun, interactive, and potentially life-saving experience for the whole family.

🚨 Firework Safety Message from Ellsworth County EMS 🚨
As we head into the holiday weekend, Ellsworth County EMS wants to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely. Fireworks are a fun tradition, but they can also cause serious injuries if not handled properly.
🎆 Keep these tips in mind:
✔️ Light fireworks one at a time, and back up quickly
✔️ Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks—even sparklers can cause severe burns
✔️ Keep pets indoors—they’re sensitive to loud noises and could get hurt or run off
✔️ Have a bucket of water or garden hose ready in case of fire
✔️ Never relight a "dud" firework—wait 20 minutes, then soak it in water
✔️ Dispose of fireworks properly—soak them before trashing
We want your family to enjoy the celebrations without an unexpected trip to the ER. Let’s make this 4th of July safe and injury-free for all.

With temperatures climbing into the upper 90s and beyond, it's important to take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you from heat-related illness.

Hot weather can become dangerous quickly, especially for older adults, young children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, and those who work or spend extended time outdoors.

To stay safe:
-Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
-Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
-Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.
-Take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned building.
-Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle.
-Check on family members, friends, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
-If you're working outdoors, take frequent water breaks and watch for signs of heat exhaustion.

Know the warning signs of heat-related illness:
*Heavy sweating
*Dizziness or fainting
*Headache
*Nausea or vomiting
*Muscle cramps
*Confusion or altered mental status

If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately. While waiting for help, move them to a cooler area and begin cooling them if it is safe to do so.

🚑 CPR Saturday is This Weekend! 🚑

Our monthly CPR Saturday is happening this Saturday at Ellsworth County EMS!

This is your opportunity to become certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid and gain the skills needed to respond in an emergency. Whether it’s for work or personal knowledge, these are lifesaving skills everyone should have.

💲 Cost: $35 per person
✅ No registration required — just show up!

Can’t make it this month? No problem! We offer CPR Saturday on the second Saturday of every month, so you’ll have another opportunity soon.

📅 Please note: Due to the Fort Harker Days celebration, our July CPR Saturday class has been moved to July 18th. We look forward to seeing you there as we continue building a safer, more prepared community!
