Congrats to Hannah Vague who placed 2nd in the state speech contest today. She represented Ellsworth County and Area III well!

Yesterday we held the Area III speech contest with competitors from Ellsworth, Lincoln and Pratt County. The contestants were amazing and so well prepared. First place went to Hannah Vague from Ellsworth who will represent us at the state speech contest at the KACD Convention in Wichita on November 24. Congratulations Hannah!

Shutdown continues but the District is still operational. Contact Pamela if you need assistance. Hopefully we can go back in the office soon with partners.

Due to the lapse in government funding, the District cannot operate in the USDA Service Center. Pamela is still working during the shutdown and can be contacted at 785-472-3625 or our new email address [email protected]. Seed sales and equipment rental will continue.

The Conservation Distrct hosted the County speech yesterday with 5 amazing participants with the topic "May the forest be with you, always". 1st place went to Hannah Vague who will represent Ellsworth County at the area contest in November. 2nd place went to Karli Haase. Congrats to everyone!

The Ellsworth County Fair is coming up July 22-24!
The Conservation District is sponsoring the annual youth conservation photo contest in the open class fair. The winning entry will receive $50 and entered into the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts photo contest.
Subject matter must be CONSERVATION PRACTICES within Ellsworth County. See the fairbook for other rules or contact Pamela at the Conservation District.

Join us next week for this educational workshop!

Join us on June 10th for the first of five Green Cover Workshops focused on growing profitability with cover crops!

Our first workshop will be held in Ellsworth, Kansas on Tuesday, June 10. At this half-day workshop we’ll discuss how cover crops can help improve profitability in a row crop system. The workshop will start with a keynote, followed by a farmer panel and plenty of time for questions.
