Thursday the Rotary Club of Ellwood City hosted the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy Students (RYLA) to share their experience and this week long conference held at Westminster College in Mid June. RYLA is an international leadership program eveloped by Rotary Interanational in 1971. This program is designed to demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth; provide an effective training experience for slected youth and potential leaders' encourage leadership of youth by youth and to recognize publicly young peopl who are rendereding service to their communities. Students who are completing their junior year are selected by the school councilors and teachers. This year John Besong from Riverside and Anthony Popovich from Ellwood CIty School Districts were chosen to attend this life changing program. They shared their experience with the club members Also in attendance were the school counselors April Thellman from Ellwod CIty and Jennifer Brown from Riverside. At our August 6 Rotary Club meeting, we welcomed Jennifer Jones, who shared an inspiring presentation about Safe Haven Baby Boxes and the life-saving mission behind them.

We are excited that Ellwood City will soon have its own Safe Haven Baby Box, which will be located at the Ellwood City Fire Department. This important resource provides a safe, anonymous option for parents in crisis while ensuring infants receive immediate medical care.

Thank you, Jennifer, for educating our members about this incredible initiative and the impact it will have on our community.

Together, we can help spread awareness and support this life-saving mission.

On Thursday June 18th, the Rotary Club of Ellwood City held their annual changing of the guard dinner. Past Area Governor Jeff Simmons was present to help install the new officers and reinstall those holding the same position. Congratulations to the new President Pete Schallot and his board:

Also, Congratulations to our newest and youngest member, Bryce Steffler who was in attendance to receive his new member pin and acknowledgement.
Several members of the "Over the Hill Gang" from the Carpenters project were also in attendance to receive a donation from our club to help with the building of handicap ramps!!

Thanks again to our outgoing President Doug Slade who was our leader for the last 7 years. We appreciate all you did for us!!
