Part of our monthly Drill schedule is practice
for potential calls that are not as common but demand skills. Our CME skills took us to Buffalo Creek at the rear of Elma Village Green Park last
night. We simulated a swimming accident with spinal injuries. Utilized our Kawasaki ATV and other equipment. Sharpening EMS skills is important so that members remain ready to deal with these situations.

Tonight we officially send off our two young Ladies to college. Isabella Carlino to St.Bonaventure and Lizzy Yandricha to Daemen. Although they won’t be gone for good we will miss them and their willingness to learn. All our best to you both as you enter a new phase of your lives. Hard work makes you successful.

Tuesday August 18th was a special day at the Erie County Fair as Chief Dave Zaporowski was recognized as Firefighter of the Day Honoree. Special thanks to the many members who took time out of their schedules to attend and stand with me as I was honored. Also to my family members and to our Fire Company children who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our Fire Company has made strides to do things as one big Family with hopes to inspire others and our children to carry on this most important service to our community. I would be remiss if I did not mention 1st Asst. Chief Billy Nolan who made
this all happen.

The Elma Fire Company capped off another great Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen's Convention Saturday August 1st. Marching unit looked great braving the muggy conditions with the help of the Renegade Drum Corp providing the beat. We captured the third Grand Trophy in the last three years! Special thanks to Billy and Amanda Nolan, Nate and Breanna Warnock, Henry and Amy Szymula for your planning and hard work. Special thanks to our Mentor Phil Mohn for providing the assurance and certitude!!!

We had a very busy Friday on July 31st as the Elma Fire Company participated in several events at the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen's annual convention! It was a great time for everyone involved.

The day began with an awards ceremony where our own Firefighter, Alexander Yandricha, was recognized for his service in the 1-10 years category. Congratulations to Alexander and all the award winners from the WNY region!

While we didn’t take home a win in the waterball competition, the crew gained some valuable experience. During the comic parade, we celebrated America’s 250th anniversary with a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a reenactment of the Boston Tea Party. The festivities conclude today with the Firemen's Parade!

Today, members of the Elma Fire Company and Jamison Road Fire Company, in collaboration with Mercy Flight, conducted a pre-prom simulation at Iroquois Central High School, providing students with a firsthand experience of the consequences of reckless decisions made while driving. This exercise serves as a valuable learning experience, proving impactful even if it resonates with just one individual. Students exhibited high levels of attentiveness. 2 Iroquois Seniors are currently active Junior Firefighters at Elma Fire Co. and were able to show some of their Auto Extrication skills.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Jamison Road Fire Company for their dignified and patriotic display during the funeral procession for Past Chief Joseph Gauthier, which profoundly resonated with family and friends. Furthermore, we acknowledge with appreciation the respects paid by Blossom, Spring Brook, and Marilla Fire Companies to Joseph's family during his wake. The Brotherhood transcends all boundaries.
