🚔 UPDATE – SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY 🚔
Earlier today, an Elma Police Officer contacted an individual near the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds who was believed to be involved in a vehicle prowl investigation with outstanding warrants.

Following a brief struggle and foot pursuit, additional law enforcement resources responded to assist. During a coordinated search of the area, officers located two juvenile suspects who had attempted to hide nearby. One juvenile had an outstanding arrest warrant, and both are believed to be involved in an ongoing Elma Police Department investigation.

Other than minor scrapes, both the juveniles and responding officers were uninjured.

The Elma Police Department would like to thank our law enforcement partners for their rapid response, professionalism, and teamwork. Today's successful outcome is another example of neighboring agencies working together to keep our communities safe.

The Elma Police Department has identified one suspect in this investigation. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Because this case involves juveniles, no additional information can be released at this time.

👮‍♂️🚔 EPD officers are continuing to investigate this case and work to hold those responsible accountable.

Please be aware of an emerging scam being enhanced with AI Voice-Cloning technology

Scammers may use AI to mimic the voice of a loved one and ask for a ransom. Often demanding payment through wire transfer, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.

Please share this warning with family and friends, especially older adults who may be targeted.

The FBI is warning families about a growing scam known as AI-powered "virtual kidnapping."

Elma Police Department will be conducting traffic emphasis patrols focused on speeding, stop sign violations, and distracted driving/cellphone use in the following weeks.

EPD’s goal is to improve roadway safety and help prevent serious injury collisions through proactive enforcement and education.

Today, GHSO Deputy McKechnie and his partner, K9 Titus, visited Elma’s 2nd Grade classes for a fun and educational presentation. Students had the opportunity to meet the K9 team and learn all about what a police dog does and how K9s assist law enforcement in keeping our communities safe.
