🎨 We are excited to announce the winners of the City of Elma’s “Where Everyone Belongs” Mural Concept Contest!

After reviewing all 10 community submissions, we are pleased to recognize:
🥇 1st Place: “Stamps of Elma Life” - Ali Lisle & Sarra Burnett.
🥈 2nd Place: “Together Here” - Jessica Le Blanc.
🥉 3rd Place: “See the Beauty of Our Differences” - Scarlett Fredrickson.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who submitted an idea! Each entry brought something unique to the theme and we are excited to see how these ideas come together in the mural design.

Please check out the web link below to find out the vision for the mural and learn more about how the community art concepts will be used to create the final art installation.

The speed limit on the west end of town near the elementary school has been lowered to 25 MPH.

Every mile per hour matters. Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself some extra time when traveling through the area.

📣 September will be an especially busy month for public hearings. Elma City Council will hold six important hearings scheduled for September 8th and September 21st.

Three hearings are specifically related to the establishment and taxation of a Transportation Benefit District (TBD), an important step in planning for future transportation improvements in Elma.

Here’s what’s coming up:
🗓️ Tuesday, September 8 at 6:00 PM
1. Comprehensive Code Enforcement – EMC Title 18
2. Complete Streets Policy
3. Temporary ALPR Moratorium
4. Establishment of a Transportation Benefit District (TBD)

🗓️ Monday, September 21 at 6:00 PM
5. Proposed Assumption of the Elma Transportation Benefit District
6. Proposed 0.1% Transportation Benefit District Sales & Use Tax

More details about each topic can be found on our city webpage linked below. All interested members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide comment. Written comments may also be submitted to the City Clerk prior to each hearing and will become part of the public record.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Councilman Mike Cooper. In recognition of his dedicated service to our community and lifelong commitment to public service, the City will lower the flag in front of City Hall to half-staff beginning today, Friday, August 21, 2026, through Monday, August 24, 2026.

The City has also issued a statement honoring Councilman Cooper’s legacy and contributions to our community, which can be found on our website.
