Signs, Signs, everywhere there's signs. Anybody old enough to remember that song? Well sing that in your head while you read this post. We have signage all over here at the landfill and today I want to focus on our DEPOSIT ONLY, dumpster. We have a nice sign on it and yet look at the photo evidence that people don't read the signs. Please pay attention to what you are doing when you use our dumpsters. This dumpster is not for plastic recycling, gas containers, flipflops, and garbage. For good measure and because no one wants to handle gross pop cans and bottles, lets empty out that pop and beer too. This is a service that we are providing for the public. You do not have to bring your redemption cans to the landfill, but if you want to please use it correctly. There is recycling for those plastic bottles less than 2 feet away in a recycling dumpster. These redemption cans and bottles are available for any group that wishes to collect them from us. Just call and speak with our director. We also have clear plastic bags for you to use when recycling, so we know its deposit items and not garbage that is going in the bin. Signs, Signs everywhere there's signs, please pay attention to them, so we can continue to provide you with this service. Have a great day!

It is truly sad that this needs to be repeated. If you bring construction materials and use the small loads area you must clean up after yourself. I walked the area this morning and am very disappointed that I spent 10 minutes picking up and sweeping nails and screws that were all from one persons load. If this continues to be an issue construction debris will not be unloaded in this area and will have to go outback. No one wants a flat tire and in this area it is 100% preventable just by checking the ground after you unload.

So a little reminder to people who use our landfill. Let's keep it nice. I just went out and picked up about two handfuls of drywall screws from the convenience area. If you bring these items and they land on the ground, please pick them up and dispose of them in the bin. We even have brooms and shovels so you can sweep up. Last reminder, pay attention to the signs. The recycle area has a bin just for deposit cans and bottles (no glass) and there are multiple other items in this. Do not put plastic or cardboard or garbage in this bin, only deposit items. There are very large signs on both bins that let you know what can go into it. If you have doubts please ask a staff member. Lets keep this facility nice and continue to have these areas open. Thanks and have a great day.
