The Elma sports season is back!

Last night, the EHS soccer team played Aberdeen (2A) before the home crowd at Davis Field. Unfortunately, the Aberdeen defense stifled the Eagles, and the team lost 4-0. The team has a chance to bounce back Tuesday (9/8) against Adna with kickoff slated for 6:00 p.m.
The Elma Boys Golf team played at Hoquiam on Wednesday (9/2) and ended up losing 191-171. The team will return to Oaksridge to host Montesano on Thursday (9/10) with tee time slated for 3:30 p.m.
The EHS Volleyball team competed yesterday at the Hoquiam Volleyball Jamboree. The team was scheduled to play league foes Montesano and host Hoquiam, but it was a jamboree-style match with unofficial scoring. The team will compete next weekend in the Centralia Tournament on Saturday (9/12).
..And don't forget the Elma Eagles Football team will be in Bremerton tonight to kick off its season at 7p. Go Eagles! 🦅

Prior to the start of school Wednesday, Elma District staff were busy preparing for students. ASB President Presley S. spoke to all staff about ASB and this year's school t-shirts. Our food services staff have worked very hard to have food ready to go at every one of our schools. Our teachers attended multiple trainings ranging from Skyward Qmlativ modules to pedagogical principles. Superintendent Nesmith offered an overview of the upcoming year, and we welcomed new staff.

We are thankful for Elma Police Department's timely and professional response to this incident!

We're also grateful to our custodial staff who have been hard at work making multiple repairs to the classroom mentioned in this post.

On 8/30/2026, Elma Police officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at the Elma Elementary School.

Officers swiftly responded and located a subject still inside one of the portable classrooms. The subject was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently booked into jail on multiple felony-level offenses.

We want to assure the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community related to this incident.
