End of Watch: Officer Joseph Perez (1945 – 2026)

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the City of Elmendorf announces the passing of Officer Joseph Perez.

Officer Perez was the embodiment of service and sacrifice, dedicating a remarkable 37 years to the ​c​ommunities he served. For the past decade, we were fortunate enough to have him here in Elmendorf, where his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to public safety left an mark on us all.

He was more than just a colleague; he was a mentor, a friend, and a protector. Joseph’s presence in our halls and on our streets will be deeply missed by the City Council, city staff, and the entire community he served so faithfully.

Rest easy, Officer Perez. We will take the watch from here. 🕊️💙

🚧 SAFETY REMINDER – CONSTRUCTION ZONES & PARKING LAWS 🚧

As road work continues in our area, we want to remind everyone to slow down and stay alert in construction zones.

👷‍♂️ Watch for workers, lane shifts, equipment, and sudden stops.
📵 Please put distractions away and follow all posted signs.
⚠️ Fines may be higher in work zones — but the real goal is making sure everyone gets home safely.

🚗 PARKING ON PUBLIC STREETS – PLEASE REMEMBER:
When parking on a public street, drivers may not stand or park a vehicle (Texas Transportation Code 545.302):

❌ In front of a public or private driveway
❌ Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
❌ Within 20 feet of a crosswalk
❌ Within 30 feet of a stop sign, yield sign, flashing signal, or traffic-control signal
❌ Anywhere an official sign prohibits parking

🚒 Keeping hydrants, intersections, and driveways clear helps emergency responders and keeps our roads safer for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Christmas in the Park and Parade. It was a great day for our community, and we were glad to be out there keeping the routes safe and helping the event run smoothly.
