Congressman Nick Langworthy is the only New Yorker on the House Rules Committee, the panel that decides which amendments the full House may even vote on. He is 1 of 9 majority members. Of New York's 26 House members, he is the only one in that room.

Ten amendments came up. He voted to keep all ten off the House floor. Zero he voted to allow.

On June 9, 2026, the committee report shows by name what he did with the seat.

CLAIM: "a seat at the table on major legislation" (his own House website, on why his committee seats matter for rural NY-23)
VERDICT: DOCUMENTED PATTERN
He voted Nay on all ten motions to let the House vote on an amendment, then made the motion to report the closed rule himself. It carried 7 to 4.

Among the ten he voted to keep off the floor:
→ Restore the Medicaid and ACA cuts, using $70B repurposed from ICE and CBP (record vote 361)
→ Restore part of the SNAP cuts the same way (362)
→ Extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits two years (363)
→ Bar settlement payments to anyone convicted of assaulting an officer on January 6, 2021 (358)
→ Require a search of a citizen's home to be lawful under the Fourth Amendment (364)

Medicaid, SNAP and the ACA credits are the same three subjects from the first time we documented this pattern. They came back on a different bill and were kept off the floor again.

He then sponsored the rule, managed the hour of debate, and moved the previous question, the motion that ends debate and forecloses the alternative. Both floor votes went party line: 214 to 211, then 213 to 211.

The seat is marketed as the district's leverage. On five unrelated fights now, the record of how it gets used runs one direction.

Don't take our word for it. Check his own votes and words:
