The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office will be holding nine (9) Boater Safety classes this year. The classes are limited to thirty (30) attendees. The youngest a person can attend a class is ten (10) years of age by the date the class is given. Due to new NYS regulations, anyone operating ANY type of motorized watercraft is now required to have a license.

There will be no fee for the class, and there will be a thirty (30) minute lunch break for people to eat, they can bring their own food or go out if time allows. The classes will be held on a Saturday (and one Friday), and the class times will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The classes will be held as follows:

You must be pre-registered to attend the class. We can no longer register you over the phone at the Sheriff’s Office. To register, please go to www.register-ed.com and select NY in the drop-down menu. After that, you can scroll down to NYS Boating Course and select Upcoming Events. Please find one of the above locations where you wish to attend a class and click View Event, then Register Now. We can no longer register you for your class over the phone at the Sheriff’s Office. However, if you are having problems registering, you can call the Sheriff’s Office at 607-737-2933 for assistance.
