Tonight at 5PM! Tuesday September 1 -- Success Express back to school event for ALL ELMIRA FAMILIES!

Join us aboard the Success Express! All Elmira families are invited to this fun, family-friendly resource event this evening Tuesday, September 1, from 5–6 p.m. at the Ernie Davis Academy Cafeteria.

More than 20 community partners will be on hand inside the school to connect families with resources, support and opportunities—from food assistance and health and wellness to housing, workforce development, education and more. Families can also take advantage of Pre-K registration, enjoy activities and giveaways, and enter raffles throughout the evening.

Come meet the people and organizations ready to help your family thrive. Family. School. Community. Together we succeed!

🎉 We’re proud to share that Elmira City School District has been named one of four statewide recipients of The Arc New York’s 2026 Employer Recognition Award!

For more than 10 years, ECSD and The Arc Chemung-Schuyler have worked together to create meaningful job and learning opportunities for people of all abilities, interests and talents. We are privileged to have these dedicated staff members in our schools each day, making a difference in the lives of our students and our community.

This summer, our Summer Boost students explored how our country came to be and the people, places and ideas that have shaped our nation.

And, of course, we made learning FUN! Students tackled reading, math, coding, science, history and music through scavenger hunts, art projects, cooking patriotic cookies and snacks, singing patriotic songs and more. 🎨📚🔬💻🎶

We also made time for swimming lessons, a trip to the fair and plenty of summer fun along the way! 🏊‍♀️🎡☀️

From history to hands-on learning, our Summer Boost students spent the summer learning, exploring, creating and celebrating America’s 250th! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

📚 A proud literacy tradition, carried forward every summer in Elmira at the Literacy Institute.

There’s something special about gathering educators and educational partners in a place where words have mattered for generations.

This year’s Elmira City School District Literacy Institute, hosted at Elmira College, brought together so many passionate educators, literacy leaders and community partners with one shared purpose: helping every student become a confident reader, writer and lifelong learner.

Here in Elmira, where Mark Twain found inspiration and wrote some of his most celebrated works, it feels especially fitting to spend summer days focused on the power of literacy.

The Literacy Institute was a tremendous success — a day filled with collaboration, learning, fresh ideas and a shared commitment to our students.

We are proud of our literary heritage. And even prouder to see our educational community carrying that tradition forward.
