Last Thursday we had the opportunity to honor our faithful Site Supervisor, Donna Vary, before she departed on a new adventure to serve others! Many thanks to Donna for her outpouring of love and friendship towards the precious children participating in our Drop-In Program at His Haven Northside! You will be missed!

To insure no gaps in our programming, the children also also had the opportunity to welcome Nariah Lynn Stephens, as she has stepped in as our NEW Site Supervisor of our His Haven Northside programs! Northside kiddos, be ready for more fun!

In 2022 alone, His Haven served well over 100 homeless individuals. That is a modest statistic as many of the clients we serve do not desire to share housing status with our organization. None the less, His Haven has become a warm, receptive, safe haven on the Southside for homeless individuals to seek gentle support where they may receive not only genuine, friendly conversation, but food, water and particularly in this season, warm winter clothing and outdoor accessories such as hats, scarves, mittens etc.

Today, an individual came to His Haven with the clothes on their back and their only belongings tucked away in the seat of the wheelchair seen below. The individual, having spent last night under a local bridge, came to His Haven seeking a bag of food, a warm, dry pair of gloves, clean socks along with a dash of foot powder and wipes, which we keep on hand, so individuals may have the opportunity to feel refreshed before putting on a clean pair of socks.

Many of you may not know that His Haven is currently a grant and donor funded organization that does not charge clients or community partner organizations for services. So, it is at times likes this that the organization likes to lean on Elmira friends to assist when there is a need to help fill in the community. Currently the need is to assist His Haven in the replenishing of their warm sock and durable winter glove stash for homeless individuals like the one that stopped in today. It is only March and there are many more cold nights ahead before our homeless friends get to see a reprieve from the harsh winter elements. We are putting this out there for you, friends of the ministry, because Elmira, giving looks good on you!

THIS Friday! Mark your calendars! All are welcome!
