This Liberation Weekend, I was proud to join and The Center for Law and Social Justice for a powerful conversation on reparations and restorative justice.

Thank you to moderator for guiding a thoughtful discussion alongside , , and as we reflected on the enduring legacy of Juneteenth and the ongoing work of advancing justice.

As the sponsor of New York’s Reparations Commission, I believe these conversations are essential. Reparations are about more than acknowledging history, they are about creating a path forward rooted in truth, accountability, and opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important dialogue. Liberation is not just something we commemorate, it is something we continue to pursue through policy, education, and community engagement.

The suburbs should be a place where people can afford to put down roots.

That’s why we’re working to make homeownership more accessible and encourage the construction of starter homes and tiny homes for the next generation.

Renters still want the suburban dream, but many increasingly believe they'll never get it.

Now that session has wrapped, I want to take a moment to recognize two people who made it run as smoothly as it did.

Oroboghene, our Graduate Intern and an Elmont high school alumna, brought sharp thinking and steady hands to our Albany office all session long. She also served as our Local Government Committee Clerk.

Shafin, our part time session intern, jumped in with energy and reliability whenever we needed it, including helping facilitate our research on legislative issues.

Thank you both for everything you brought to this team. I am grateful for your dedication and excited to see where your talents take you next.

For too many Long Island families, high property taxes and rising costs continue to strain household budgets. That’s why Governor Hochul and I are announcing more than $2 billion in STAR tax relief for nearly 3 million New Yorkers. This relief will help homeowners and seniors keep more of their hard-earned money.

Governor Hochul announced that nearly three million New Yorkers across the state will receive over $2 billion in tax relief this summer and fall through New York's School Tax Relief (STAR) program.

Today, I sent a letter to FIFA World Cup President Gianni Infantino urging FIFA to reverse its decision requiring the removal of Battle of Vertières imagery from Haiti’s 2026 World Cup jersey.

The Battle of Vertières is not a political statement. It is a symbol of freedom, independence, and the resilience of the Haitian people.

If FIFA believes the Battle of Vertières is too controversial to appear on Haiti’s World Cup jersey, then perhaps they don’t deserve our dollars.

Instead of purchasing FIFA merchandise, let’s support Haitian designers, Haitian artists, and Haitian-owned businesses that proudly celebrate our history, culture, and identity.

Haiti deserves the opportunity to proudly share its culture and heritage with the world.
