Westchester County has learned of its first human case of West Nile Virus this year, which was confirmed in an Elmsford resident with multiple underlying medical conditions, who is recovering at home.

West Nile Virus infection most often causes a mild or moderate flu-like illness, but can be more serious particularly for people 60 and older, and those with other health complications. In 2021 and 2020, three people were diagnosed with West Nile Virus, and in 2019, one Westchester County resident had the virus.

The Yorktown Police Department is working with the Norwalk and MTA police to locate Kristan Lee. It is believed he took an Uber to Port Chester then train to Norwalk. While he's not believed to be in danger at this time anyone with information of his where abouts should call the YPD at 914-962-4141.

As costs nationwide continue to rise, County Executive George Latimer is pleased to announced measures taken by the County to ease the burden facing County residents’ wallets. Dehydration signs:
1. Thirst – Typically the first sign of dehydration is thirst and by this stage it’s too late as you’ve lost approximately 2% of of body-weight in fluid.
2. Fatigue – One of the most critical symptoms of dehydration is fatigue.
3. Sweating – Fluid and electrolytes help retain fluid but are lost when we sweat, which can lead to dehydration.
