🥎Throwback Thursday!

TBT to our 1976 Elmwood softball team, which was recently honored at the WIAA State Softball Tournament as one of the first teams to compete at the state level.

Girls’ softball became a reality in Elmwood for the first time in 1976. Coached by Mr. Huber, the team was made up almost entirely of underclassmen, with only one senior on the roster. Despite their lack of experience, the Raiders’ determination and hard work led to an incredible season.

Elmwood captured the conference championship and advanced to the state tournament after defeating Black River Falls 24–7 in the sectional championship. At state, the Raiders earned another victory over Superior before finishing as the 1976 WIAA State Runner-Up, falling to Madison West in the championship game.

Congratulations to these trailblazers whose accomplishments helped pave the way for generations of Elmwood softball players.

🦏🌍 Science Expedition Check In!

On this day it was rhino horn trimming day. A helicopter team safely darted the rhinos from the air, and our students were part of the ground team helping monitor the animals’ health and take measurements while they were sedated.

This was a tremendous team effort involving the reserve’s rhino managers, the pilot, veterinarian, nature conservation supervisor, and our Elmwood students. Together, they successfully completed horn trims on three rhinos.
