Are you free this weekend and looking for a chance to help your local emergency workers? We are looking for 4 participants to participate in a training event for Elmwood Rural Fire Dept, Elmwood Rescue, and Eagle Fire & Rescue Department. Participation would include acting as a patient for a mass casualty training scenario.

This would get you the chance to see first hand how emergency scenes are managed and run as well as an opportunity to participate in our after training debrief and eat some pizza with members of the Elmwood, Eagle, and Cass County Emergency crews.

This weekend we were invited to participate in a controlled structure burn. These are excellent training opportunities which allow us to practice and sharpen the skills required to save people and property in difficult conditions.

Thank you to Weeping Water Volunteer Fire Department, Murdock Volunteer Fire Department, Nehawka Vol. Fire Department, Manley Volunteer Fire Department, and Cass County EMS. It's a pleasure working with you all as always.

This month's featured member is Jr Firefighter Jesse Greise. Jesse is a student at Elmwood-Murdock High School and has lived in our fire district for 8 years.

Why did you decide to join the fire department?
"To help my town, fire something to do, and because I was curious."

Why do you continue to Volunteer?
"I like helping people and the teamwork of it."

What is your favorite memory of being a firefighter with Elmwood?
"My first meeting, helping everyone, and meeting everyone."
