🌡️⚠️ HEAT ADVISORY AND SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL TODAY ⚠️🌩️
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Alamance County and much of central North Carolina from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM today. Heat index values are expected to reach 100-105°F, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
In addition to the heat, strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon through this evening. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts, though heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will also be possible.

• Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
• Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned locations.
• Never leave children, older adults, or pets in vehicles.
• Check on neighbors, family members, and those without adequate cooling.
