Elon Fire Department

Elon Fire Department A Few Serving Many Welcome to the Elon Fire Department. The Elon Fire Department has a total of 12 pieces of apparatus.

It is our goal that the contents of this site provide the citizens of Elon and prospective volunteers with information about the department and the services it provides. The Elon Fire Department is a combination fire department made up of 2 stations, Elon-1 and Elon-2, 12 paid personnel and approximately 30 volunteers. The department also has a Fire Explorer Program where young adults, ages 14-18,

can learn about the fire service. The department provides fire protection, emergency medical response and public service to the Town of Elon, Elon University and rural areas outside the Town. All together the department covers approximately 11 square miles with a population of 7,000 to 15,000 when the University is in session. The majority of our response area is residential, but with the addition Elon University’s continues growth, not only have we seen our number of 3 story apartment complexes quadruple over the past 10 years, but also have our first 4 story dormitories under construction. Along with Elon University, the department provides fire and medical response to Elon Elementary School, three retirement homes, including the Twin Lakes Community, Oaks Retirement Home, Blakey Hall, and Interstate 85/40. Our call response is broken down to approximately 60% medical calls, 30% fire calls and 10% public service calls For more information on call response please see our Emergency Response Page. These include our primary 4-Engines, 1-Aerial Truck, 1-Rescue Truck, 1-Tanker Truck, 2-Medical and 2-Utility vehicles and 1-Command Unit. For more information on our apparatus please see our Apparatus Page.
