🚨 Fraud Alert: Check Washing Scam on the Rise

We want to make our members aware of a recent increase in fraud involving mailed check payments to Discover. Individuals have reported that after mailing a check to pay their Discover bill, the check was intercepted, altered (washed), and cashed for large amounts by unknown individuals.

To help protect yourself from this type of fraud, we strongly recommend using alternative payment methods for your Discover bill whenever possible, such as online payments, mobile app payments, or automatic transfers.

Your financial safety is our top priority. If you suspect any fraudulent activity on your account, please contact us right away.

Stay safe and vigilant! 💙

Our very own Ms. Nikole will be leaving to pursue a new adventure this August.... which makes us HAPPY for HER but sad for us. THUS, we are looking for a new hire to join our library family.

Please stop in for an application or download one from the City of Elroy website; return form to the Library by June 24th.

Small businesses power Wisconsin’s economy. 💼📈

Between 2010 and 2025, small businesses accounted for approximately 95% of Wisconsin’s net job growth—compared to 72% nationally. This remarkable impact underscores the critical role entrepreneurs play in driving local and statewide prosperity.

The latest Wisconsin Policy Forum report, “Small Businesses, Big Stakes: The State of Wisconsin’s Small Businesses," highlights both the strength of our entrepreneurial ecosystem and the challenges many businesses face when scaling—including access to capital and workforce constraints.

The Universities of Wisconsin Office of Business & Entrepreneurship commissioned the first-of-its-kind report in partnership with WEDC.
