I’m sure it goes without saying but we’re going to say it, do not burn today! Check chains if you’re hauling then check them again, don’t make sparks and if you see smoke and flames don’t be afraid to call it in.

When this weather even hits, seconds will matter.

EXTREME FIRE DAY ACROSS THE NW & N. U.S. ROCKIES SATURDAY🌬️🔥a widespread, dangerous fire weather event is expected across much of central and eastern Washington and Oregon, Idaho and Montana on Saturday as a strong, dry cold front sweeps through the region. Fire Weather Watches are in effect and will likely be upgraded to warnings due to a combination of strong winds, very low humidity and hot temperatures, leading to rapid wildfire growth and dangerous fire behavior. West to southwest winds of 15-30 mph with widespread gusts of 35-50 mph are expected across much of the Inland Northwest with the strongest gusts focused over the Columbia Basin, Waterville Plateau, West Plains, Blue Mountains, Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and parts of eastern Montana. Along Montana's Rocky Mountain Front, wind gusts could reach 60 mph with isolated gusts approaching 75 mph. Relative humidity values will plummet into the single digits and teens across the region. Hot temperatures, locally approaching 100-110 degrees in parts of Montana and Oregon will further dry fuels ahead of the frontal passage. The highest risk stretches from eastern Washington and northeast Oregon through much of Idaho and into central and northern Montana where any new or existing wildfire could spread rapidly under these conditions

Such a great asset to have on our fires and the surrounding area!

I’ve been on fires where we’re losing line, wind’s picking up, and the only thing keeping that thing in check is a tanker running laps.

Retardant buys time. Buckets cool heat so we can get in. Air Attack is calling out spots before we even see smoke.

Are they the whole show? No. You still need boots on the ground. But when you’re in the heat and you hear “Tanker 101 on final,” that’s the best sound in the world.

Fire planes don’t put fires out alone — but they’re sure an asset I want on my fires.

Do you have CodeRed?

In the event of wildfires, for instance, we can send notifications to all residents within the affected zones. CodeRED offers multiple contact methods, including text messages, emails, and phone calls. Residents have the flexibility to add several contact numbers, which is especially beneficial for those with multiple lines (landline, cell, or business) and for families who wish to include additional contact information.
