Exaggerated perceptions of danger historically led to eradication campaigns using bounties, poison, trapping, and shooting. All eight bear species around the world are now listed as vulnerable, threatened or endangered in all or portions of their ranges. Remote habitats that once insured isolation and protection are now being occupied by people, and the attitudes of these people will determine the future of those populations.

Bubble blowin' with bears! 🐻🫧

In this video, Jasper and Koda are getting a unique type of enrichment- bubbles! Enrichment is a great way of keeping our bears mentally and physically stimulated to prevent patterns and routines. This is a new sight and experience for our cubs, helping their young brains problem solve and collect new sensory information. The bubbles are 🍊 scented, further adding to the mental stimulation of this unique enrichment opportunity. Shout-out 2026 summer bear intern Ella for the bubbles!
