Ely Seed Lending Library The Ely Seed Library was founded in March 2012 to promote the sharing of heirloom seeds within our community.

The Ely Seed Library is located the Ely Public Library in Eastern Iowa. Seeds are borrowed at the beginning of the season, grown out, and a portion of the new crop of seeds can be returned to the library for other community members to use. Seeds are free to borrow and while you are encouraged to save seed to donate back, there is no penalty for not doing so. Seed Donations can be mailed to:

The planters along the bike trail over by the creamery have been planted with a variety of garden seeds from the Ely Seed Lending Library! Thank you to our local gardening good Samaritan for doing this! Feel free to help yourself to the bounty as it is produced! Feel free to help with weeding as well! 😀

Ely's city-wide garage sales will be held May 7, 2022, from 8 am to 3 pm. This is sponsored by the Friends of the Ely Public Library.

To register, you may print off the attached form or pick up a form at the library. With your $5 fee, you will be included on the city map, on the information sheet, and you will receive a sign saying you support the library.

The Friends of the Ely Public Library Book Fair is this Saturday and Sunday, December 4 & 5! Mention our book fair at checkout and we will receive a percentage of sales! This includes sales in the cafe!
Can't make it to the store in Cedar Rapids? Order online and use our bookfair ID number of : 1262180.

We will also be having a donation based gift wrapping table at the Cedar Rapids location. Hope to see you there.
