The Lorain County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is a local government agency that provides support and coordination assistance to first responders for county-wide emergency/disaster planning, education, warning, response and recovery activities. The primary responsibility of Lorain County EMA is to better prepare Lorain County for natural, man-made or technological disasters, hazards or acts o

f terrorism. Lorain County Emergency Management was formed as a county wide EMA under ORC 5502.26. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act”. The agency is responsible for maintaining and exercising the county-wide All Hazards Emergency Operation’s Plan. EMA also serves as the administrator for the Lorain County Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Lorain County Technical Rescue Response Teams. Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today. The first round will be this morning into this afternoon with a second round in the eastern half of the area possible this evening. Damaging wind gusts will be the main hazard, but tornadoes and large hail remain possible.

The US National Weather Service Cleveland OH has indicated Lorain County is under a Flood Watch through this evening.

The US National Weather Service Cleveland OH has indicated Lorain County is under a Flood Watch through this evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms with periods of torrential rainfall rates will continue to impact the area through this afternoon and early evening. Rainfall rates of greater than 2 inches per hour are possible with thunderstorms, which can quickly result in flash flooding in prone areas.
Flooding of low lying, urban, and poor drainage areas may be possible.

Car vs. Garage

The Lorain County Technical Rescue Response Team responded to assist the Sheffield Village Fire Department after a vehicle struck a residential garage and left the scene of the accident. The driver and vehicle were quickly located by the Sheffield Village Police. Another great job by first responders!
