Today, Lt. Avery Cruz led a great hands-on training focused on pump operations, relay pumping, and advancing 2½-inch hose lines.

Training like this is essential to maintaining the skills and teamwork needed on the fireground. Crews had the opportunity to work through pump operations, establish relay pumping, and practice the challenges of advancing large-diameter attack lines.

Great job by Lt. Cruz putting together a valuable training, and thank you to everyone who participated and continued to sharpen their skills.

Last night, our Fire Marshal and Firefighter/Paramedic, Mike Holtzman, was recognized at a North Ridgeville City Council meeting for his quick actions during the North Ridgeville Corn Festival that helped save the life of a man who went into cardiac arrest.
Yesterday, Mike had the opportunity to meet the man whose life he helped save, and it was an incredible reminder of why we do what we do. Mike, along with others who responded and provided care, acted quickly when every second mattered.
We are incredibly proud to recognize one of our own for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving others. We are grateful to have Mike as a member of our department and proud of the difference he makes in our community.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the attack on U.S. soil that took the lives of so many innocent people.
Men and women woke up that morning and went about their everyday lives, never knowing that September 11, 2001, would be their last day.
We cannot change what happened in the past, but we can honor those we lost by remembering them, remembering the events of that day, and remembering how deeply it touched our nation and so many lives around the world.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the men and women who ran toward danger to help others.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
