Festivals that have become cherished traditions across Ohio is the August America 250-Ohio theme.

Each fall, Vermilion hosts the Woollybear Festival, inspired by the folklore that the woollybear caterpillar can predict the severity of the coming winter.

Featuring the world-famous Woollybear Parade, live entertainment, vendors, and family activities, this beloved event has brought generations together for more than 50 years in a celebration that's uniquely Lorain County.

The August America 250-Ohio theme highlights the festivals that reflect the traditions and creativity found in communities across Ohio.

Founded in 2015 by FireFish Arts, Lorain's FireFish Festival transforms downtown with interactive art, live performances, local food, and a dramatic community procession that concludes with the ceremonial burning of a handcrafted wooden fish along the Black River.

Returning September 19, FireFish honors Lorain's industrial past while celebrating its vibrant creative future. America250

The August America 250-Ohio theme celebrates county fairs alongside the local festivals that have connected Ohio communities for generations.

Dating back to 1846, the Lorain County Fair has grown into Ohio's second-largest county fair, welcoming families to Wellington for livestock shows, exhibits, grandstand entertainment, and midway attractions.

The 2026 fair runs August 23-30, continuing a legacy that has showcased Lorain County's agricultural heritage for nearly 180 years. America250
