Win the Lorain County Auditor's Dog of the Month contest by posting pictures of your dog below!

Click the comment button, then the image button, and post your pet's best picture. Include your explanation as to why your dog deserves to be Lorain County's Dog of the Month (past winners are not eligible). Be creative!

The winner will be determined by the image of the dog posted as a reply to this post that receives the most likes (all Facebook reactions counted) by September 30th at 9:00am, so enter early and share your post with all your friends encouraging them to vote for you.

And of course, your pet must have a current Lorain County dog license to win (yes, we verify). Prize basket varies monthly. (Ties will be broken by coin toss.)

Our Weights and Measures team has been working the last few days with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to test and certify Lorain County's propane delivery trucks. These trucks supply millions of dollars of fuel to area homes and businesses every year and we are proud to do our part in ensuring a fair marketplace.

Congratulations to July's Dog of the Month, Rumor, and her wonderful owner, Corinne Blackstone!

Thank you to Corinne for stopping into the Lorain County Auditor's Office to pick up Rumor's prize basket! Rumor sat this visit out, as we're told she can be a bit of a vocal spokesdog. She did, however, send some adorable Rumor stickers in her place!

Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday is underway!

There’s still time to take advantage of Ohio’s 2026 Sales Tax Holiday, which continues through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 9.

During the holiday, sales tax is waived on qualifying purchases, including:

• Clothing priced at $75 or less per item
• School supplies priced at $20 or less per item
• School instructional materials priced at $20 or less per item

Whether you’re preparing for the new school year or picking up a few essentials, this weekend is a great opportunity to save.

🎉 Congratulations to Auditor Craig Snodgrass on 32 Years of Service! 🎉

We would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate a true champion of public service, Craig Snodgrass. Craig’s journey with the Lorain County Auditor's Office began 32 years ago on July 25, 1994. Since then, he has been a beacon of dedication, integrity, and leadership in our community.

Craig's pursuit of excellence started at Walsh University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. His passion for learning didn't stop there; he went on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and earned his Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification, continually expanding his expertise.

Beginning his career under the guidance of Julian Pijor and later serving under Mark R. Stewart, Craig’s dedication was evident from day one. His tireless work ethic and passion for our county propelled him through the ranks, and in 2013, he became Lorain County Auditor. Since then, his leadership has been nothing short of exemplary, steering the office with wisdom and precision.

Craig Snodgrass embodies the principles of accuracy and fairness. Under his stewardship, the Lorain County Auditor's Office has received ongoing recognition with the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, demonstrating his commitment to these values. Additionally, Craig became the first Lorain County Auditor to serve as President of the County Auditors' Association of Ohio, a role he proudly held last year, further showcasing his leadership and dedication to public service.

As we recognize his 32nd anniversary with the Lorain County Auditor's Office, we honor his unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the residents of Lorain County.
