A friend of mine is bringing back his annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament in October. Check out all of the various divisions. There is even a Super Legends division for 50+ aged players. Hello J-Sei Basketball Games hoopsters and supporters! Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we have to cancel this year's event. We are optimistic that we will gather again next year. This will give you more time to get your bodies in shape and be even more enthusiastic about playing.

J-Sei, Inc. is still open and providing various services. Go to www.j-sei.org to learn more about what J-Sei offers to the community. J-Sei is also a community center for all ages. Join us at a virtual Family Festival on September 19. Purchase a bento box prepared by a variety of local chefs including J-Sei's own chef Yuji Ishikata. Bento pick up is Sept 20. Go to www.j-sei.org to place your order. J-Sei would also be honored if you would donate to help fund the many services that J-Sei is currently offering despite the unusual circumstances.

Hello J-Sei Basketball players! We are keeping a watchful eye on when groups can meet. This will determine whether we can offer the J-Sei Basketball Games for 2020. I know that all of us are hopeful for a fast recovery from the Covid-19 situation. For those of you who are directly or indirectly impacted by all of the changes, we feel for you.

J-Sei is not immune to the effects of the Pandemic. We are still funding our nutrition program which helps feed so many seniors in the community. Our case managers continue to have a full load. Our assisted living facility in Hayward has a full staff of workers. We have other on-going programs that continue to be offered that promotes the interests and well being of our seniors and cultural community.

Unfortunately, most of our normal fund raising events have been cancelled this year. Like many non-profit organizations, this has put a tremendous strain on the J-Sei budget. Thankfully, through numerous emergency grants and generous giving from individuals, J-Sei services can fully continue in the short run.

But, we still need your help. Without our normal fund raising events and activities we need additional resources to continue. If you are able, please consider giving to J-Sei today to allow the organization to continue to provide care for our local seniors and cultural and educational programs. Take advantage of Early Bird pricing for the J-Sei Flavors event. Purchase tickets before the end of the month. Flavors is a fantastic evening event with food and wine tasting, live music, silent auction, tons of friends and a whole lot of fun. It's held at the elegant Berkeley City Club. Please join us at this annual fund raising event. Invite friends. You'll have a blast!

Also, let us know if you would like to be one of the sponsors of the event. You will receive lots of publicity and tickets included. Get your name or company featured prominently on flyers and other J-Sei publications. J-Sei has a wide net of followers and supporters. It's a great investment to a worthy cause. Time to get eat delicious crab and garlic noodles while supporting a fantastic cause. On Sunday February 23 J-Sei is having its 29th annual Crab Feed and raffle drawing event. It's all you can eat! Tickets are $45 in advance with children 12 and under at $15. Drawing tickets are $2 each or $10 for 6. Food and drawing tickets can be purchased from J-Sei. J-Sei Basketball Games 2019 is coming! Get ready to sign up a team or as a free agent. The event will be on October 26. We will have very limited number of spots for teams due to gym size. You will need to sign up asap to be guaranteed a spot in the event. We are targeting registration to begin August 1. Check in at www.j-sei.org. Proceeds will benefit J-Sei's nutrition program which provides in-house and home delivered lunches to a number of seniors. As usual, this event is open to players of all levels of skills and shape. Open to both men and women. It's more about having fun, rekindling old relationships and making new ones. You don't need to come with a stacked team. Instead, come ready to play a lot of minutes and laugh a lot. Thank you to all who plan to participate. You are contributing to a well needed cause in our community.
