The Emmett Fire Department would like to thank our mutual aid partners who came out to assist us with a structure fire Friday evening. We'd like to especially thank Eric Varty with Varty's Excavating for hauling heavy equipment to the scene to assist in accessing the fire on a building that was structurally compromised that we could not enter. Today a few of our members had their lunch paid for by some anonymous folks at Grump's diner. Our firefighters were very appreciative of the gesture, and we, as a department, would like to say thank you as well. None of us do this looking for any recognition, but it's a great reminder to us of what a supportive community we serve. Thank you again, anonymous lunch donors.

But sincere congratulations to Memphis Volunteer Fire Department on taking delivery of their new engine.
Buying a custom built fire truck is nothing like buying your next car. They were able to look over our truck for inspiration, but tweak the design to fit their specific needs and wants. It takes a lot of time and hard work to make the decisions and get the truck just how you want it, so good job Memphis!

Last night your Emmett firefighters took advantage of the beautiful (but slightly hot and humid) weather to get some outdoor, hands on training. Teams took turns advancing charged hose lines through a barn around obstacles, using the deck gun on our engine, pumping the truck, and shuttling water with our tender. These are all skills that we hope we don't have to use regularly, but need to practice to be the best that we can be when we're called on to help.

The Emmett Fire Department is selling a water pump. This pump was brand new approximately 8 years ago, and has very little run time. This pump was supposed to be able to pull water out of our underground tanks to fill our trucks, but after years of issues, a third party told us it was built to be gravity fed. It does pump water, but does not fit our needs. Specs are in photos. Taking offers. The Emmett Fire Department is selling an Eseco gasoline powered generator. This unit is in running condition, and was used as our stand by power unit until about a month ago. The Emmett Fire Department is selling a Code 3 MX7000 light bar with traffic advisor. This light was removed from our utility truck, and is in full working condition and includes full wiring harness and controller for traffic advisor. We are asking $250. On Wednesday night, the Emmett Fire Department had the opportunity to demo and train with battery operated extrication tools. These are the same tools that the fire department is working towards purchasing to replace our 20+ year old tools we currently have. We were fortunate enough to have Scot McLeod, a rescue specialist with MacQueen Emergency, show us the tools and also instruct us in different rescue and extrication techniques. Thank you Scot for your expertise, and also thank you to Jeremy's Towing, who provided us with the vehicles to practice on. We are blessed to have such support right here in our own community!

The officers of the Emmett Fire Department would like to publicly acknowledge and thank the members of the department for their dedication. The volunteer fire service is finding it harder and harder to find individuals to dedicate their time to departments, above and beyond working full time jobs and having family and social lives. We are proud to say that over the last few months, we have had over 90% member participation at all of our business meetings and trainings. And those who were not able to attend were only unavailable due to working their full time jobs, or sickness. This is a big deal to us,and we want to thank and recognize our members for their dedication to this department and our community!
