Our thoughts and prayers are with the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, Canton Police Department, and their families following last night’s tragic incident.

We mourn the loss of a fellow first responder who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting their community. We also pray for a full and speedy recovery for the injured officer.

From all of us at the Emory Fire Department, we stand with our brothers and sisters in blue. πŸ’™πŸ–€

Rest easy, hero. We have it from here. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

🚨πŸ”₯ VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER & HIGH WINDS πŸ”₯🚨

⚠️ Emory Fire Department is urging everyone in Rains County to use EXTREME CAUTION!

With fire danger reaching the VERY HIGH level and strong winds in the area, conditions are favorable for fires to ignite and spread rapidly.

πŸ’¨ HIGH WINDS + DRY CONDITIONS = DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS!

Under these conditions, even the smallest spark can turn into a fast-moving grass or brush fire within minutes. Strong winds can cause fires to spread quickly, change direction unexpectedly, and become extremely difficult to control.

πŸ”₯ PLEASE TAKE THESE PRECAUTIONS:

* 🚫 Avoid ALL outdoor burning.
* 🚬 Never throw ci******es out of vehicle windows.
* ⚠️ Avoid welding, grinding, or any activity that produces sparks near dry vegetation.
* πŸš— Do not park vehicles on tall, dry grass.
* ⛓️ Secure trailer safety chains to prevent sparks from dragging on pavement.
* πŸ“ž Report any smoke or uncontrolled fires immediately by calling 911.

πŸš’ VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER means fires can start easily, spread quickly, and require significant resources to contain.

We ask everyone to do their part to help protect our homes, property, livestock, and first responders.

πŸ’¨ The wind is already trying to blow us into the next county. Let’s not give it a fire to take along for the ride! πŸ”₯πŸ˜‚

Stay alert. Stay safe. Help prevent wildfires!

πŸš’ TRAINING TOGETHER, SERVING TOGETHER! πŸš’

Tonight, members of the Emory Fire Department, Point Fire Department, and East Tawakoni Fire Dept came together at Emory Fire Station 1 for a joint vehicle extrication training.

πŸš— Vehicle extrication is a critical skill that allows firefighters to safely and efficiently remove trapped occupants from vehicles following serious accidents.

Training alongside our neighboring departments helps us improve communication, teamwork, and coordination so that when an emergency happens, we are ready to work together to get the job done.

We want to thank everyone who took time out of their evening to come out and train. Your dedication to improving your skills and serving our communities does not go unnoticed!

We would also like to give a special thank you to Fullers Towing and Recovery for providing the vehicles used during our vehicle extrication training!

Your generosity and continued support help give our firefighters valuable hands-on experience and allow us to better prepare for real-life emergencies.

Thank you for supporting our local fire departments and helping us better serve our communities!

Three departments. One team. One mission. Protecting our communities. πŸš’πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”₯πŸš’ Fire Safety Day at Rains Elementary! πŸš’πŸ”₯

Emory Fire Department, Point Fire Department, and East Tawakoni Fire Dept are out at Rains Elementary School today for Fire Safety Day!

If you see our fire trucks and firefighters at the school today, no need to worry β€” we’re there teaching the kids about fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and the important role firefighters play in our community.

We always enjoy getting the opportunity to spend time with the kids and help them learn how to stay safe! πŸš’πŸ”₯

A little fire safety education today can make a big difference tomorrow!

πŸ”₯ RAINS COUNTY BURN BAN LIFTED πŸ”₯

The Rains County burn ban has been lifted, effective immediately today, October 6, 2026.

While the ban is lifted, the risk of grass fires is still present. Emory Fire Department reminds everyone to use caution when burning:

βœ… Burn only when weather conditions are suitable and winds are light.
βœ… Keep water, a hose, and hand tools nearby.
βœ… Clear the area around your burn pile.
βœ… Never leave a fire unattended.
βœ… Completely extinguish all flames, coals, and embers before leaving.
βœ… Continue following all state and local burning requirements.

Please burn responsibly and help us keep our community safe! πŸš’

Don’t forget tomorrow is national night out! Emory Fire will have fire trucks for the kids to look at!
