⚠️ PLEASE LIMIT UNNECESSARY TRAVEL ⚠️

We are asking everyone to please limit travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

There are currently numerous trees and power lines down across roadways throughout the area. Please use extreme caution and NEVER approach, touch, drive over, or attempt to move a downed power line. Always assume that ALL DOWNED POWER LINES ARE ENERGIZED AND DANGEROUS.

🚫 DO NOT attempt to cut or remove trees that are touching, near, or entangled with power lines. Even if the lines appear to be inactive, they may still be energized and can cause serious injury or death.

🚓 Law enforcement, emergency personnel, road crews, and utility companies are aware of the numerous downed trees and power outages throughout our area. Crews are working diligently to clear roadways, address hazards, and restore power as safely and quickly as possible.

Please help keep yourself and our responders safe by:
• Staying off the roads unless travel is necessary
• Avoiding all downed power lines
• Never driving around barricades or through blocked roadways
• Giving emergency, utility, and road crews plenty of room to work

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as crews continue working throughout the area.

Mr. Smith was last seen at his residence on highway 58 in our county on August 28, 2026. When his family returned home, he and his vehicle both were missing. He left behind his cell phone and his wallet.

The Greensville County Sheriff’s
Office is saddened to hear the passing of Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper.

We send our heartfelt condolences with deepest sympathies and prayers to Sheriff Drapers family, friends and the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Draper was a true legacy among his family, friends and colleagues, serving The Commonwealth of Virginia as one of the longest serving sheriffs.

Sheriff Draper take your well deserved rest!
