The Lyon County Highway Department will be closing Road 150 between Road E and Road F on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for a bridge deck replacement.

The road will remain closed until the project is complete.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our area until September 8th at 7:00 p.m.

Please use caution if outdoors for extended periods of time, and make sure to stay hydrated. With heat index values up to 108 degrees, watch for heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Paint & Finishing Products

Did you know Lyon County Hazardous Waste can accept paint and finishing products for recycling? The following items are accepted:
• Enamel or oil-based paints
• Furniture st*****rs
• Caulk
• Latex paints
• Rust paints
• Stains/finishes
• Thinners and turpentine
• Wood preservatives (including aerosol cans)

Tip: Always check labels, keep containers sealed, do not mix different chemicals. Store items securely to prevent leaks, if leaking, make sure they are contained and keep them separate from other household items. If possible, keep in original container. Make sure items that are not in original containers are labeled.

Note: No hazardous waste is accepted from businesses, only from residents of Lyon and Chase counties.
