Northern Tier Community Action Corporation Head Start & Pre-K Counts Providing high-quality preschool programs in Elk, Cameron, Potter, & McKean counties What is Head Start? Our program helps children get ready for kindergarten.

The Northern Tier Community Action’s Head Start program is a preschool for income eligible between the ages of 3-5. It is a program for children and their families to ensure a fun, healthy, and safe learning experience. At least 10% of our classes are reserved for children with diagnosed disabilities. It teaches them good, healthy habits. Head Start is education, health, social service, and parent

involvement. What is Pre-K Counts? Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts provides quality full-day pre-kindergarten to eligible 3 and 4 year olds in Pennsylvania. This program is designed for families earning up to 300% of the federal income poverty level who may also be English language learners or have special needs. Our Pre-K Counts classrooms in Emporium and St. Marys prepare students for kindergarten while providing a nurturing, fun environment. Classrooms are limited to 15 students, breakfast and lunch are served daily, and, just like Head Start, there is no cost for this program.
