We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Katie Andan has been named as a San Diego County Teacher of the Year! After being selected as the EUSD Teacher of the Year, Katie completed an extensive application process and was interviewed by a panel of judges including representatives from SDCOE, the 9th District PTA, and districts throughout the county. The five teachers chosen to represent the county were selected for their incredible passion, dedication, and the impact they have had on their students throughout their career. Katie will now move forward to the state level representing EUSD and San Diego County!
Katie is more than deserving of this distinguished award and exemplifies everything it means to ignite the limitless potential of all learners. Katie’s goal as a teacher is for her students to feel safe, seen, and heard every day, and in every situation. She has taught 5th grade at La Costa Heights Elementary for the past 12 years and has 20 years of classroom experience. Drawing from a teaching career that spans the globe, Katie showcases different perspectives and helps her students understand and practice empathy. At the end of each school day, Katie hopes kids leave her classroom feeling like they contributed, learned something new, exhibited critical thinking, held themselves to high expectations, and are excited to come back the next day. Congratulations, Katie! 🎉
Thank you to the San Diego County Office of Education and our amazing LCH students and staff for making the announcement so special!
