⛄️FIRST ATTEMPT: A major WINTER STORM is expected Tuesday and into Wednesday. It’s still about two days away, but this is my first attempt at forecasting how much snow to expect.

⏰TIMING: A band of light snow may move in as early as Tuesday morning along I-64, mainly from St. Louis to Mt. Vernon. For most of Southern Illinois, snow ARRIVES late Tuesday afternoon, becoming heavy during the evening.

⚠️IMPACTS: Near WHITEOUT conditions are possible Tuesday night. Fluffy snow will be whipped around by the wind, resulting in drifting and low visibility. Travel is NOT advised Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. I would consider moving any travel plans during this time.

🥶Additionally, BITTERLY COLD air will move in behind the snow. Temperatures near 0° are possible by Thursday morning. Wind chills will be even COLDER.

Buckle up! Changes to the snowfall forecast are still possible as we get closer, as there are still questions on exactly where the heaviest snow will occur.
