Great news! The Enfield Beautification Committee is pleased to announce that CLEAN SWEEP IS BACK!
To all my friends, to those who love volunteering, and to all the environmental friends of Enfield, CT, Clean Sweep 2014 is ready to go! I invite all of you to come and join in on the fun!
Clean Sweep 2014 will be held on Saturday, May 31st, at 11:30AM. We will be meeting at Enfield's Town Hall. I estimate after everyone is checked in that we will begin cleaning at 12pm and stop at approximately 2:30pm.
We will have a table set up at the Town Hall for all those who are volunteering to sign in. We will be concentrating our efforts on The Town Hall, Freshwater Pond, Thompsonville, and Town Park areas. We will then meet up at the Town Hall around 2:30pm in our effort to Fill The Dumpster!
I am working with Mayor Scott Kaupin to get a dumpster dropped at the Town Hall just for clean sweep. We will also have access to a truck for the larger items thanks to Roberta and Charlie Ladd.
All are welcome to join in on the fun. It will be a great day and is a wonderful way to meet other people from Enfield.
Tom Kienzler will be there along with others from Picture Enfield to photograph the event. Thank you Tom.
Michael Walsh and Mikaela Porter of the Hartford Courant have been notified.
Several stores from Enfield have said they will donate trash bags and gloves. If you have your own gloves please bring them. If you have extra trash bags I am sure we could use them. Thank you to these stores. I will name them directly once I have a finished list of the donors.
I hope everyone will attend. It is a wonderful event to be a part of!
OTHER NEWS: Just some news for all those who care. The Enfield Beautification Committee has also approved the purchase of flowers and mulch for several areas of Enfield. This work will be performed by the entire volunteer group known as Enfield's Garden Club. The Committee has also approved and set aside money for the construction of planters around Freshwater Pond. These planters should be built this spring to early summer. The Committee has partnered with Asnuntuck Community College to design custom plaques for the planters. A big thanks to Asnuntuck Community College for all their support! We will have a dedication ceremony once the planters and plaques are finished. Lastly, the Flags that line our streets and honor our veterans will be installed in the next few weeks. Check out The Enfield Beautification page accessible through Enfield's Town website and through Facebook for further updates and photo's of the work as it progresses.
See you all on Saturday, May 31st at 11:30am at The Town Hall! Let's Get Our Clean On!
