Enfield Man Accused of Breaking Window to Enter Home, Fighting With Officer During Arrest

ENFIELD, N.C. — An Enfield man is facing five misdemeanor charges after police allege he broke a window to enter a residence and then resisted an officer responding to the call.

According to court documents filed in Halifax County, Kendrick Donta Sears, 46, was arrested on August 26, 2026, by the Enfield Police Department.

Sears is charged with:

* Misdemeanor Breaking or Entering
* Resisting a Public Officer
* Forcible Trespass
* Damage to Property
* Assault on a Government Official/Employee

Court documents allege Sears unlawfully entered a home on East Franklin Street in Enfield. The charging documents state he allegedly broke a window to gain access to the residence and damaged windows at the property.

When the Enfield Police Officer responded to the reported breaking and entering, Sears allegedly resisted the officer by pushing and shoving while refusing a lawful order to leave, according to the magistrate’s order.

Police further allege Sears swung at Ferguson while the officer was attempting to arrest him for breaking and entering.

Sears is scheduled to appear in Halifax County District Court on September 2, 2026, at 9 a.m.

The court documents list all five offenses as misdemeanors.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

On 8/19/26 Officer Lawrence and Officer Whitby responded to a disturbance between Quantrez Evans and a female party on Holiday Dr.

While on scene it was learned that Evans had an outstanding OFA out of Halifax County for Resisting a public officer and was arrested without incident. He was served on the process, receiving a $3,000 secured bond.

Community Alerted the Police
Police Responded

Report of two young males dressed in all black with ski masks and hoodies dressed in all grey and all black with guns were spotted on East Alsop St., Enfield. Police Captain Moyer and Chief Shoemaker canvases the area. Captain Moyer spotted the suspects entering a vehicle in the car wash. Captain Moyer performed a traffic stop. Officer Lawrence assisted with the apprehension and charges of two young men, one being a 17 year old juvenile that was armed with the AR-15 style rifle. The juvenile a was charged on a juvenile petition and released to his mother for concealing a firearm. The other young man photo here was charged with Felony possession of a firearm by felon and concealing firearm. The important thing to focus on here is “see something, say something, so we can do something”

On 8/15/26 I arrested Gykala Cooper (25 y/o of Enfield) for an outstanding warrant for arrest out of Orange County, for Felony Uttering a Forged Instrument and Felony Attempt to Obtain Property by False Pretense. She received a $3,500 secured bond and remanded to the Halifax County jail.

Arrest

On 8/5/26 Cerdick Williams was located and arrested on an outstanding Warrant for Arrest for Hit and Run, No Operators License, Failure to Report Accident, and Failing to Yield Right of Way. This warrant stemmed from a hit and run investigation conducted by me which Williams was developed as a suspect.

Williams also had two outstanding OFA’s one from Nash County and the other from Halifax County. He received a total of $31,000 secured bond for the OFA’s and a 48 hour hold for the WFA. He was remanded to the Halifax County Jail.

On 7/27 during a traffic stop, Angela Richardson of Rocky Mount was arrested after it was discovered by Officer Lawrence she had two outstanding OFA’s out of Chowan County and Perquimans County. She was given a $1260 secured bond.
