American Legislators for Violence Prevention & Bill of Rights Defense

American Legislators for Violence Prevention & Bill of Rights Defense ALVPVPBoRD is a nonpartisan coalition of state legislators from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and DC focused on ALL violence prevention & defense of the BoR

American Legislators for Violence Prevention and Bill of Rights Defense (ALVP) is a nonpartisan coalition comprised of Democratic, Republican, Libertarian and other members of the legislatures of all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. The group includes representatives of urban, suburban, and rural areas who have come together in recognition of the unique role state legislators

must play -- whether or not Congress chooses to act -- in defending, upholding and strengthening the Bill or Rights, while prudently addressing the real sources of violent impulses. ALVP members represent diverse perspectives based upon our own experiences and the needs of our respective districts and states, and do not seek to craft a one-size-fits-all agenda to address all forms of violence for all states. We share a common commitment to learning from each other and developing strategies for reducing violence that will be most effective in our districts, our states, our regions, and the nation as a whole, while simultaneously defending the integrity and protection the Bill of Rights addresses for all free men and women. Members of ALVP generally oppose background checks on gun purchasers and other measures intended to infringe on the People's right to keep and bear arms. Many of our members are also interested in promoting more productive and engaging competitive shooting sports and programs in communities. ALVP was initiated in December of 2014.
