🚒 SEPTEMBER IS FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION MONTH! 🚒

This month, the England Volunteer Fire Department is proud to recognize the men and women who answer the call when our community needs them most.

🔥 When the alarm sounds…
🚨 When there’s an accident…
🏠 When a neighbor needs help…

Our volunteer firefighters leave behind their families, meals, work, and everyday lives to respond. They don’t do it for recognition—they do it because they care about the community they call home.

Being a volunteer firefighter means being ready when the call comes, day or night. It means training, teamwork, sacrifice, and a commitment to helping others.

🚑 KNOW WHEN TO CALL 911 — HELP KEEP EMS AVAILABLE FOR EMERGENCIES 🚨

911 and Emergency Medical Services are critical resources designed to provide rapid help during serious or potentially life-threatening emergencies.

CALL 911 for situations such as:
• Chest pain or signs of a heart attack
• Difficulty breathing or severe shortness of breath
• Signs of a stroke — facial drooping, arm weakness, or speech difficulty
• Severe bleeding that cannot be controlled
• Unconsciousness or someone who cannot be awakened
• Serious vehicle crashes or traumatic injuries
• Severe allergic reactions
• Seizures, especially prolonged or first-time seizures
• Suspected poisoning or overdose
• Any situation where you reasonably believe someone's life or immediate safety is in danger

For non-emergency medical needs, consider contacting your healthcare provider, an urgent care clinic, or another appropriate healthcare resource when it is safe to do so.

🚑 An ambulance is not a substitute for routine transportation or routine medical care. Unnecessary use of emergency resources can leave ambulances and EMS crews unavailable when another person is experiencing a time-critical emergency.

If you're unsure whether a situation is an emergency, don't delay seeking help because of this post. Call 911 and explain what is happening. Trained dispatchers can evaluate the information you provide and help determine the appropriate response.

Every second matters in a true emergency. Using 911 and EMS appropriately helps keep these lifesaving resources available for the entire community.

Know when to call. Use EMS responsibly. Help us keep emergency resources ready when they're needed most.
