The travel restriction previously enacted is lifted. Travel/driving is permitted.

Primary roads are clear. Secondary roads are passable but snow covered. Cold temperatures during the overnight hours may cause black ice. As such, stay home if you can. Avoid driving if possible. No errand is worth your safety.

Continue to keep cars off streets - plowing will continue.

ADOPT A HYDRANT. Clear snow from fire hydrants near your home. Wear bright visible clothing when doing so, and do not put yourself in danger !

Check any exhaust vents outside your house. Your clothes dryer, HVAC, and other utility vents near ground level can be easily obstructed by high snow drifts. This leads to Carbon Monoxide build up in your home. CO is dangerous and deadly. Do not skip this important safety tip.

Winter storm warning issued for Bergen County, beginning 6 AM Sunday through 6 PM Monday.

Snow starts Sunday afternoon and continues through Monday afternoon. Total snow accumulation is expected to average 6 to 10 inches around Bergen County with locally higher amounts above 14 inches. The heaviest snowfall will be from Sunday night through early Monday morning, when we expect near blizzard conditions. This means snowfall rates approaching 2 in/hr, strong consistent winds, whiteout conditions, reduced visibility, and large snow drifts.

The Monday morning commute will be hazardous. Please plan ahead and stay home if you can !

ALL MOTOR VEHICLES MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET SO THAT DPW CREWS CAN EFFECTIVELY CLEAR THE SNOW.

PLEASE HELP OUR FIREFIGHTERS - CLEAR SNOW AND ICE FROM FIRE HYDRANTS NEAR YOUR HOME.

OEM, POLICE, FIRE, DPW are fully staffed and prepared.

This weather bulletin issued by EC Office of Emergency Management, under the authority of the Office of the Mayor, Mayor Mark Park.

Alert: EXTREME COLD!

NWS warns of EXTREMELY cold temps this weekend. Record setting wind chills of below -20 degrees are forecast Saturday and Sunday.

If outdoors - use caution. LIMIT your time outdoors.

Dress with several layers. Every part of the body must be covered. Frostbite comes with little warning.

When driving, slow down. Pedestrian versus vehicle accidents increase during the cold. This is caused by pedestrians with hoodies, hats, or ski masks with limited peripheral vision. Do not assume a pedestrian sees you! If in doubt, stop to be sure they see you.

Check on Seniors and vulnerable family & neighbors.

PETS should be kept indoors. A stylish doggie jacket and some booties will help protect smaller breeds on short walks.

Stay warm EC.

(PS: Only 42 days, 18 hours, and 46 minutes until the first day of Spring…. but who is counting??)

Did you know that you can
“ADOPT-A-HYDRANT” ?!

You can, and you should! Be the best neighbor on the block and be sure to clear any fire hydrants near your house.

The hydrant needs to be clear of snow and ice…approximately 3 feet all the way around.

Thank you. You are the best neighbor on the block!
