Maugo picked rice. Nyamokenye picked bees. Same model, different crops.

This week, both villages launched their first income project after 38 weeks of CHEC class and an elected Sustainable Governance Committee. 6 acres of rice in Maugo. 15 beekeepers-in-training in Nyamokenye.

This is what scaling looks like.

By Friday, 15 villagers in Nyamokenye will be certified beekeepers.
Eight women, seven men. Representatives from six CHEC sub-groups. The National Beekeeping Institute sent two instructors, Isaac K. and Evans K. The classroom this week is a brick-walled compound. Day one covered the bee castes: queen, worker, drone.

The apiary comes next. Then the hives, then the honey.

Backed by Rotary Global Grant #2.

Payday at the Kanyamfwa tailoring group. Each member is collecting her share of the profit from a business that started with seed capital from Invest in Her.

Here's how the model works: a CHEC women's group launches an income project, and the earnings come back to the women who built it. A share for each member. A share for the community's table bank to lend out next.

Their business. Their payday.

A roll of fabric. A sack of chicken feed. A tray of seedlings. In our CHEC villages, these are the small starts of real businesses — and the first $500 is usually what stands in the way.

Invest in Her puts that seed capital in the hands of women's groups in western Kenya. As each project earns, the returns flow back into the community through their own table bank, funding the next loan and the idea after that.

What does it actually mean to invest in her?
It looks like a woman learning how to budget for the first time.
It looks like savings where there were once daily financial struggles.
It looks like a small business… a poultry project… a kitchen garden… a growing sense of confidence.

And through Community Health & Empowerment Clubs across rural Kenya, it’s happening every day.

When you invest in her, you’re not simply giving.
You’re helping build knowledge.Income.Leadership.And lasting change that reaches families, villages, and future generations.
This is what investing in her looks like.

So what does it actually mean to invest in a woman?

It looks like this:

A woman learns financial skills and business basics through her CHEC.
She joins a savings group and contributes what she can.
She takes a small loan.
She invests in something tangible—a sewing machine, a small stock of goods, a few chickens.

Then something shifts.

She starts earning.
She contributes to her household.
She pays school fees.
She reinvests—and grows.

This isn’t a one-time moment.
It’s a cycle: training → action → income → reinvestment

And it’s happening every day in the communities we serve.

Invest in Her is a simple way to support that next step—when training turns into real, lasting progress.
